OUR STORY
Young entrepreneur, model, and social media influencer Elle Baumgarten created SABIYA after relocating from the rather dreary weather of London to the sunny shores of Miami. A sailing enthusiast — and inspired by the omnipresent yachts, sailing vessels, fishing boats, and cruise ships around Southern Florida, Elle set to work solving problems and developing products for this promising market.
Sunscreen was an unexpected but perfect fit. Through research Elle found over 5,000 different FDA approved sunscreens for sale in the US, but NONE were designed specifically for boat owners.
Elle found three problems that needed solving:
1. Most sunscreens stain boats and swimwear
2. Some sunscreens (and until recently many more) harm marine life
3. Many sunscreens (especially the inexpensive ones) are not particularly beneficial for skin — apart from the obvious
